New Story Posted

Title: Feathers, Fur and Fleece
Author: bakayaro onna
Completed: 25 January 2006
Summary: One-shot. A masked man is apprehensive about what his partner will be wearing at a masquerade gala.

Acknowledgements: A heartfelt and sincere thank you to Joules, who slogged through the first draft of this story, whacked it repeatedly with her magical beta hammer and wrench and made it easier to read. You are a godsend to this overly verbose idiot.

Another sincere thank you to Aja, who found bits and pieces to adjust to help smooth the ride. This helped solidify characterizations and visuals.

I am pleased the 'costume' fic is in its final stages of the second-person's beta. Debating on sending it to a third one, but I really DO need to get it posted up so it will be ready for the Vault's contest.

The 'hotel' fic has just been sent to beta-two. It is short so I may send it to a third beta before posting.

The 'cat' fic is still inspiring new words.

The 'razor' fic is going through additions from two different hard copies, urhgh...

The 'bed' fic has asked for some attention, mostly about which apartment location will I use? I have a bunch of apartment notes on the back of the hardcopy and I am debating on what I want to cull and what to leave.

The 'apartment' fic has caused some of the issues with the 'bed' fic, just because I am trying to sort through locations and room descriptions.

Drawing? What's that? Not really. I have a sketchy idea for something attached to the 'cat' fic but I may send a copy of it to aria to see if she wants to tackle it. She can draw the positions I cannot (like sitting down on a couch).

The final wrap-up for the costume fic will be happening soon.

I want to complete another piece of fiction but I keep finding stuff to add. I ran into my hard copy file, literally a plastic file container with folders, and found ALL sorts of words and phrases to add to some of the works-in-progress. I think I am going to have to spend some time concentrating on one fic at a time to get all the notes into each fic. This is not how I work. I have a tendency to bounce around to different fics during a session. I may write over 1000 words a day but that number is usually spread out over two to five to more fics.

I am not getting much writing done during lunch because I use some of that time to check lj and other stuff, something I try not to do on my office pc anymore.

I find the plethora of BADfic out there spurs me to write, too. I can find nothing good to read so I open one of my files and work.

Outlined another fic I had been storing in my brain - just so I could make room in my brain for other things.

Seems I am working with a 'series' of fics set in the present or the recent past. Present meaning 2005 and 2006. Maybe this will spur me to COMPLETE some damned fics!

I feel the itch to draw but writing is over-riding that itch still.

The wonderful cleodasia got me a paid live journal account as a present so a new and improved version of onna crap is now in place. Have new user pics, too.

On the last section of the costume beta first draft. All the birthdays and illness have been knocking me off-schedule on that one. I really need to get it done so I can enter it at the Vault's contest and watch it fail miserably.

Also been writing on other fics and have one ready for a first-round beta as soon as the costume fic has completed its first draft beta and is sent on to the next beta. It is much shorter, not as detailed, and stupid.

Looks like the cat fic is going to turn into a multi-chaptered monster.

Went out last weekend to 'shop' for Japanese apartment floorplans at that great site imayb1 found. I was just saving various floorplans, then decided to look at the featured properties and there it was - the perfect place for the Gravi boys to live - a highrise uncircumcised penis in the Tokyo skies.

The ammenities are amazing - housekeeping services, concierge, visitor arrival notification, laundry pickup/delivery, medical services, fitness facilities with a pool and massage services, etc. Now, none of the floorplans were large enough, so I decided I would cobble together a few and make my own. And so, yet another story has been born, but not written down yet.

Went out and did an oekaki - first of the year.

149: First Oekaki of 2006 - just another Guy

A bit unusual I did not go any during the holiday and this is only the first one of the year. Having to do the hard drive backups during the holiday took a lot of time out of my artistic endeavours on this pc. The tablet is hooked up on Last Gasp and I really was not in the mood or inclined to switch it over to otaku.

I really want to keep otaku a writing and research machine only. I have already failed that to a degree when I used it to do some wallpapers for our new cel phones. The software works with winXP and otaku has it while Last Gasp is still running win98.

Working diligently on the first round betas for the costume fic. Joules has done a great job and I am going through, reworking things, asking some feedback questions and slowly getting it into shape. I think it is important to provide feedback when a beta is this detailed. Right now the actual costume descriptions are being worked on and it is a major rework. I am having to see how I can fit things together after adjusting the sentences/paragraphs.

Finished another quickie fic that came out of nowhere and demanded to be written while at work. I will not subject Joules to its beta until after I complete the costume fic beta, send it back to her for her to read and confirm I caught everything.

The cat fic still asks for some words every evening and I found myself dabbling with the betrayal fic the past few days. The cat decided it needed a walk-on in that fic, too, but she is barely around. Really, her role is more of a way to show the overall climate of the situation over being an actual character in the story.

Grunt is pushing hard and writing is something I am needing to do at the moment. Evan whimpers a little, somewhere unseen, but Grunt has taken over for now. I suspect Evan will spring out around March, when I seem to get an artistic urge every year.

The first draft beta for the 'costume' fic is in the process of being done and returned. When I get all the bits together, I will resend it to the first beta in its new form to insure I caught everything. Yet again, the story is being nicely tightened with bits and pieces being removed. Feedback is being passed back and forth and it is good.

For some reason, the 'cat' fic has been galloping through and demanding enough attention to keep me busy during the holiday. I had a few days I did nothing on it, but I averaged between 250 and almost 800 on those days I did touch it, with the standard falling about 450 or so. Sometimes I wonder if Tiger is helping to channel this - I have felt her around here lately, probably because of the holiday.

I haven't gotten the scribbles for the cat fic in the edoc yet and the voice recognition software is still not working. I need some kind of amplifier box due to the lack of a Soundblaster soundcard in otaku and we could not find anything at Fry's like the headphones directions pictured. Looks like we will have to contact the company and find out what we are supposed to do to find the box they describe.

Older stories are sitting in the wings again. Oh well.

I do not plan to take classes this semester so I hope I can concentrate on creative things. I haven't heard a peep out of Evan lately but I suspect he will be coming around soon, demanding I begin drawing again. I even have a tickle in the back of my brain concerning a drawing for the cat fic, and I cannot draw cats without a reference to save my life.
