The muse won't let go...
It's annoying when the writing muse rises up and pesters me when I really need to be doing other things - like prepping for my class I teach each Spring...
I've been working on stuff from 2003 (holy crap!) and new stuff, too. This happens after midnight, when I can't sleep. So I end up staying awake all night, listening to TV and writing, until it's time to get ready for work. Yes, I go to work without sleeping for 24 or more hours. Then I sleep for 16 hours at some point that next weekend. It's stupid.
"The Mattress Manuscripts" is getting some response and it's funny getting story alerts over at the Pit of Voles. This is my first time to have multiple 'chapters', even though they're really stand-alone ficlets/drabbles. I have some one-shots over there that have alerts, too, even though I specifically say a story is a one-shot. Well, the intelligence level of many ff.crap people are in question anyway.
I have some other shorties getting ready to go to a beta. This group is anything short I've done without a mattress but to keep with the 'm' idea to tie them together, I think I'm going to call them "Miscellaneous Moments". I don't have as many in that group, but at least they'll get posted.
I have a few, slightly longer pieces I'm considering posting as stand-alones and not within either umbrella. I'm a bit torn about it, since they could be put under one of the 'm's.
Sometimes I wonder if part of my push to get my old stuff (as well as the new pieces) out there is the morality reality check. My health is crap and I'm middle-aged now. My version of the Gravi guys needs to be out there, which is different than the angst, death-filled, cutting, druggie, cheating, vampire, car-hitting crap out there. My version keeps them together, forever, and happy. How dull, right? Not to me.
