Basically, my creativity has taken an apathy pill lately.
I can still manage to get out a couple of oekaki a week, when I remember to draw.

One of the many reasons why I have been avoiding working on the latest fic is because it keeps me from lugging the craptop to and from school, which saves my back. I really need to try to get out to the ren faire this weekend so I am having to preserve my back as much as possible. That also means less computer time at home so I can rest my back.
The new small sketchbook I bought last Sunday is already getting use. I have a bunch of crap sketched in it, one sketch I will probably pursue and one sketch that is turning into a drawing quickly. Evan has been happy about it, even though I have so much to do on unfinished drawings.
I found a couple finished drawings from last year in the first small sketchbook and I need to get them out of the book, scanned, cg-ed and posted. One I worked on during various cons (a couple study) and the other I pretty much did during the Japanese Fall Festival (an Eiri pic). I also need to scan the papers that wrapped the wagashi so I have them in the system to use as kimono fabric, etc.
While I was looking for a missing cd, I ran across the original drawing for the danglemate pic. I need to post that thing on the website, don't I? It was one of my first inked and cd pieces I ever did. Jeeze, I have to go through my DBZ files and see what else needs to get posted.
Oh, and here is something REALLY scary - my first oekaki of Eiri and Shu - god-awful, ain't it? My style and techique has changed a bit since 2002.

I did a couple hundred words on that damned new fic last Friday at the office during lunch. I don't remember the exact count and I am too lazy to go check the log.
I made it a point to ignore the writing muse this past weekend on purpose. I guess I am annoyed this has been coming out so easily when other stories really need my attention.
The drawing muse has also making a lot of noise lately as well. I bought another small sketchbook Sunday since my first one is getting full. I also got paints in anticipation for the cel painting workshops at a-kon. Luckily, rat was with me because he found some sets of small tubes for 25% off, the perfect size for the workshops. I did not really need the regular-sized tubes of paint that cost more, especially since I pretty much have stopped doing more traditional paintings. I don't need all that paint. He also pointed out some bottled paints and I got some of the correct cad red to make skintones. The boxed set did not come with the right red, which surprised me. I also got some more black and white in bottles, just in case. I picked up some red sable brushes for 25% off, too.
Now, if Steve just brings some cels of guys for a change...
Anyway, here are some oekaki from this past weekend.

I logged 557 words on the new-born fic. I guess it has to do with it being new.
When I first start putting into the doc file, it is all fresh and new, without any text already on paper. When I start the actual work on the fic, it begins to bog down. I find repeated words, parts needing explanation, more detail required so the reader can see what's going on, etc.

361 words today on the brand-new fic, not including the lyrics. I turned on the computer in the breakroom and typed away after eating lunch. Too bad the keyboard was so stiff - it hurt my hands so I cannot make this a habit.
I got about half the first hand-written page logged, with some additional words as I was writing. It pretty much is a first-draft outline. It will definitely need a lot of word 'muscle' to transform it from a no-talent writer's piece to something barely adequate.
I did some research on demon foxes yesterday as well. I think I will be able to tie in this Irish-styled song to some Eastern mythology.

damned muse...
I have had this story idea using an a cappella song percolating on the back burner for a few years now but it came to a head when we were at the ren faire this weekend and rat was in the booth where he purchases a leather belt every year. I saw the fox and otter tails hanging there and they reminded me of a story I recently thought about doing, inspired by the monthly drabble challenge. It has to do with a masquerade. I was telling rat about it and he asked if Eiri would be holding the ball, a reference to the song. That made my brain go in an entirely different direction - to how I would use this relatively unknown song to write an a/u.
I REALLY don't need another idea for a story, but no, Grunt came storming through, grabbed me by the short hairs, had me look for the lyrics online (surprisingly, I found them) and I started outlining the damned story. The lyrics are a little different than the version I have heard from the a cappella group from Houston who used to perform at Irishfest. Grunt also threw all sorts of ideas at me, some already well-developed and some developed in my head as I chewed on them again and again.
I really need to outline the story I was originally talking about, but NO!, Grunt had me scribbling on the other outline yesterday at lunch and even during the day when I was needing to work. I copied the lyrics into a text doc, made spaces between the lines and began writing between those lines.
ARGH!
I think I am going to try carrying the craptop to the office today. I really need to be working on the bed fic or the razor fic, not this new one. Let's see if my back protests too much about lugging the heavy thing around. If I think I cannot take it, I will grab up the papers for this new fic and just deal with it.
*sigh*

Of course, you realize the Fruits Basket bishounen have been nagging me to do oekaki and pencil drawings of them...
That means I would have to add yet another section to the website, ugh!
I have been fighting the urge but I may have to break down soon, especially since I have been reading the manga pretty steadily the past few days.
I am inclined to draw Shigure, Hatori and Ayame the most. I like those characters and they ARE a trio as it is, according to the storyline. Each have a different eye style, hair style and colouring. I think I will probably lean toward the manga style for eye shapes and hair styles and the anime for colourings. I may try a Yuki and a Kyo but I find the older guys more interesting.
I am also debating on trying a different style with them.
And speaking of oekaki, here is the latest:

My lineart got sloppy toward the end because it was so early in the morning when I did this and I wanted to go to bed. Note the eyeshape leaning toward the Fruits Basket shape.
I have also been having fun making Gravi icons lately. I am now posting them at my newest community, gravi_icon_art. I have been doing mostly colourways of the same image at the moment. I will get into more one-of-a-kind pieces later, when I am feeling motivated for that kind of playing and dabbling. The colourways are fun to do.

I am to the point I really cannot physically write anymore on a few fics until I actually get all the words I have written and are currently spread all over the working docs into craptop-ni. I have writing ALL over the place.
I haven't been bringing ni to the office because the weight of it can aggravate my still screwed up back. I do not work on any story when I get home because I HAVE to lie down to relieve my back and I literally pass out after a while and stay that way for an hour or more. I have been trying to avoid sitting when I am home so that is one of the reasons my comments have been pretty short and far apart. I need to keep the stress off my back at night so I can actually function the next day.
I suppose I should try working on a drawing but I am not currently hyped up to work on anything. I feel so close to completing this old fic and it is frustrating I cannot work on it because of this fucking chronic cyatic nerve problem.
I am going to put my back to the mattress now.

My writing muse has been nice to me lately.

Title: Plan B
By: bakayaro onna
Pairing: it's a mystery
Rating: M - for language, nudity and suggestive situations
Idea Conceived: Friday, March 5, 2005
Completed: Wednesday, March 30, 2005
Summary: Has a heavy rainstorm completely spoiled carefully made plans for a Sakura Matsuri celebration? One-shot.
Thanks! To imayb1/Aja for a beta that met itself coming and going! *smooch*
Author Notes: This is an exercise in Second Person Narrative, Present Tense. I have not tried this in a long time so I felt it was time to explore the style again in this short piece.
This is also another story inspired by the March Drabble Challenge topics. This time the subject is rain storms. Most of my one-shots are too long to be considered drabbles because of the heavily descriptive nature of my typical writing style.
More notes, etc. available in the story itself.
